The puparium of this borer is formed in the lower stem and passes the winter there; adults emerge in spring. The small posterior spiracular plates of the puparium are moderately sclerotized to a brown color, and the horns on the plates are very short, bordering on indistinct without high magnification. Identified as M. eoflacensis in Eiseman et al. (2026), where some of the information on this page is also included.
