In 2026, I found a larva of this cecidomyiid overwintering in blackened pith in the base of a thimbleweed stem. The larva's pale pinkish-orange color, pith-dwelling habit, ability to crawl slowly but capably, and tendency to coil up as if in preparation for vaulting off the stem were all reminiscent of Resseliella larvae I encountered in stems of other hosts during the survey, but of course, these features were only enough to note a resemblance and not settle on an identification. Also, because the blackened pith around the larva was rotting away, I could not rule out the possibility that the larva was something other than a herbivore. This record is listed tentatively, pending further study.
